Exhibition Opening

(Luchadora writes: “I could have told you about my past as a Luchadora in Mexico, as a lion tamer in Asia, or as an astronaut on her short trips to the Moon, but I’ll limit myself to telling you who I am now.”)

Alessandra Marianelli, known as Luchadora (a stage name inspired by the Mexican wrestling fighters, whose joyful colors, imagination, and energy conveyed through their masks she has always found incredibly fascinating), is a graphic designer and illustrator based in Florence. Shapes are the foundation of her illustrations: excessive, rounded, and sinuous, they fill the space with color and bring harmony.

The exhibition is a retrospective of her works that speak about a theme very close to her heart: feminism. And what is feminism?

“Feminism is a movement that seeks gender equality, asserting that women should have the same rights, treatment, and opportunities as men in all areas—social, political, and economic.”

Feminism is this—and much more.
